Scorn - Film Script

BLACK SCREEN

THE SOUND OF MUSIC PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND AND THE SOUND OF THE BREEZE BEING LET IN FROM A CAR WINDOW BEING OPEN IS HEARD.

EXT. CAR - DAY - DREAM/FLASHBACK

It is a hot summer day in the Midwest. The sky is clear and the land is vivid green. On the Missourian back roads a car rolls by.

INT. CAR - DAY - DREAM/FLASHBACK

Inside the car is a mother and her daughter. They have a joy ride, enjoying each other company.

The windows are cracked making their hair flow messily. The music is loud and the pair scream every lyric together. STELLA (17), is in the passenger seat smiling at her MOTHER. Her mother taps on the stirring wheel to the beat of a song their song.

Stella reaches into her bag and pulls out a POLAROID CAMERA. She faces her mother and snaps a picture. Her mother looks at her and laughs at this.

Stella starts shaking the POLAROID PHOTOGRAPH in her hand. IT IS WHITE at first. She has to wait for it to develop.

Stella looks at her mother, THE HUM OF THE MUSIC FADES AND THE SOUND OF THE BREEZE. The POLARIOD is still developing. Her mother is looking forward while smiling.

Time seems to slow down as she admires her mother. Stella looks back at the POLARIOD, it is fully developed.

The POLARIOD shows the windshield of the car smashed in as well as Stella's mother's face bleeding badly.

Stella looks up.
